How far in advance should I book bouquet preservation?

We recommend reserving your preservation service at least 4–6 weeks before your wedding date. This allows us to plan for your bouquet’s arrival and ensure we have availability in our preservation schedule.

Natural Preservation Process

The Client understands that floral preservation is a natural process and that final results cannot be guaranteed to exactly replicate the appearance of the fresh bouquet.

Results may vary depending upon:

  • Flower varieties and individual flower characteristics
  • Condition of the flowers when received
  • Natural color changes during drying and preservation
  • How individual blooms respond to the preservation process
  • Natural variations in shape, texture, size, and color

Some flowers may dry differently than others, and certain flowers may experience natural discoloration, browning, fading, shrinkage, or other changes during the preservation process.

While Tale of Flowers takes great care to preserve the bouquet as beautifully as possible, these natural variations are an inherent part of floral preservation and are not considered defects.

Preservation Timeline

The preservation process typically takes approximately 2–3 months.

This timeframe is an estimate and may vary depending on drying time, preservation requirements, materials, design, and other circumstances affecting the process.

The Client understands that the flowers must be given adequate time to properly dry and preserve before the final piece can be completed.

Bouquet Preservation Tips– Care & Handling

  • Keep the bouquet in water whenever you aren’t actively using it. Put the stems in a clean vase with fresh water between photos, ceremony, and reception activities.
  • Keep it upright. Avoid laying your bouquet on its side. Flowers can become misshapen, petals can bruise, and gravity can distort the design.
  • Keep the bouquet cool. Avoid direct sunlight, hot cars, radiators, heaters, fireplaces, or sitting next to candles.
  • Don’t leave it in a closed car. Even on a relatively mild day, the interior can become extremely hot.
  • Refresh the water if you’re keeping it overnight. Use a clean vase and fresh, cool water.
  • Don’t mist the flowers heavily. Excess surface moisture can encourage bruising, spotting, or fungal growth in delicate petals.
  • Handle the bouquet by the stems when possible. Avoid squeezing the flower heads or repeatedly rearranging them.
  • Don’t remove flowers, foliage, ribbon, or other components. Let the preservation artist decide what should be removed or separated.
  • Don’t put it in the refrigerator unless your florist/preservation artist specifically tells you to. Household refrigerators can be too cold, humid, or contain ethylene-producing foods.
  • Tell whoever is handling the bouquet that it is being preserved. That way it isn’t accidentally tossed, flattened, left in a hot room, or separated from its stems.
  • After the wedding, get it to the preservation artist ASAP! Fresh flowers generally give the preservation artist more viable material to work with.

Bouquet Condition

The Client agrees to provide the bouquet to Tale of Flowers in the best condition reasonably possible within 1-2 days after your ceremony.

Once the bouquet has been received, Tale of Flowers will determine the appropriate preservation and arrangement process based on the condition and characteristics of the flowers.

Tale of Flowers cannot guarantee preservation of every individual flower or floral element within the bouquet.

Can I include anything besides flowers in my keepsake?

Yes, depending on the size of the keepsake, the preservation method, and available space. Meaningful details such as your bouquet ribbon, invitation or ceremony card, handwritten notes, photographs, charms, or a small locket may be incorporated when appropriate.

If there is a sentimental item you’d like preserved alongside your flowers, let us know during the planning process. We’ll consider its size, materials, weight, and how it can best be incorporated into the final piece while maintaining the integrity of the floral design.

Some items may not be suitable for every preservation method, so we’ll discuss your options with you before proceeding.

Design & Arrangement

The final arrangement will be created by Tale of Flowers based on the flowers available for preservation and the overall design of the original bouquet.

The Client understands that the final pressed/dried arrangement/ resin designs may differ from the original fresh bouquet due to the natural changes that occur during preservation.

Unless otherwise agreed upon in writing, the final artistic arrangement and placement of preserved flowers will be determined by Tale of Flowers.
